I found this when I noticed the Kroz FAQ on GameFAQs. I always loved the Kroz games and this is an awesome remake so far! ^_^ I've only got up to level 6 of Kingdom 1 though.

While playing Lost Adventures, I am able to save each level but as soon as I quit and leave the website, I can not start over again at the level I left off at. It takes me to level one again. How do I start each time at the level I finished at before?

Appetite4at 2011-09-15 07:12:44

Steve--check the "News" link for updates. One of the features of the full version will be an autosave feature.

It's not clear how to move diagonally with a mac. Could it be mapped to something else like qweasdzxc buttons?

Appetite4at 2011-12-31 12:35:44

Tom, you raise a good point. The original Kroz had PCjr keyboard controls, since that machine did not have a numeric keypad. Those were UIOJKNM, so I'll consider reworking the input to allow for numpad emulation.

Don't forget, you can also use the mouse to move.

A better magazine theme will make the blog looks nicer:)

Hey, I just wanted to give a shout out to how impressed I am with Taryn B's scores. I've gone to great lengths to weed out cheaters and spammers, but these scores seem to be authentic! Congrats Taryn B--you are indeed as diehard a Kroz player as you say.

Looks like the leaderboard has a reigning champ. Unless Scott Miller himself wants to take a crack at Cruz...?

Taryn B.at 2012-04-04 10:32:01

Thanks! ^_^ I've been playing Kroz since I was 6 and over time have honed my high-scoring strategies. There was a bug with Return to Kroz that didn't allow me to submit my score though. (It was 438290.) I started a set of Cruz levels recently, so the game's reigning champ may soon have her own take on Kroz ^_~

Appetite4at 2012-04-04 17:30:29

Good news indeed. Incidentally, the reason your score didn't register is because the limit was set artificially low--sorry about that. I've gone ahead and reinstated your score and increased the maximum for Return to Kroz.

No choice really, because you couldn't have faked all the others. I should be more careful before thinking I have correctly measured the "theoretical" topped-out score myself!

I eagerly await your proposed contributions.

Taryn B.at 2012-04-04 19:08:54

Do you get a lot of cheaters/fakers?

Appetite4at 2012-04-06 15:19:56

Not really, but I've seen what can happen to leaderboards elsewhere.

It seems mind-blowing that people would hack servers to cheat at games, given that most folks that dedicated would probably just persevere at the game itself. But they DO.

Is there a way to play this fullscreen?

Does anyone know what all the differences are for the game files that are included in the freeware download from 3d realms? There are so many, and I am wondering which ones the the appropriate ones to play?
Thanks

Appetite4at 2012-09-26 19:02:12

Jeff, you should check out the following section of this site:

http://www.chriskallen.com/cruz/differences.html#leveldesigns

I used as a basis for Cruz what I believed to be the latest version of each: master, master2, or whichever appeared to have been the most modern.

Most of the versions in the source code release are near-perfect duplicates and have very few differences, if any. But there are notable differences between Kingdom I and Kingdom II, and the Shareware vs. Registered version of Lost Adventures.

Which one is appropriate to play? Good question. I'd suggest the one modified last.

Hello, I loved the new enhancements for this game,

The reason I am also here is a wish for another game to be enhanced if you're up to it, of course named ZZT, But there is no source for this game, except for Saxxon's Roton (AKA Lyon, MIT Licenced).

I'd recommend building your own editor, and for the gameplay base, rewrite using revision r156 from Google Code to your formats (with Saxxon's credit of course).

Other than that, Looks good!

Appetite4at 2014-12-05 15:13:04

SmilyMZX, I will be launching a new site at www.chriskallen.com/zzt in a few weeks to host ZZT Ultra. This will basically be a Flash version of ZZT much like I did a Flash version of Kroz, which is this site.

With notable differences--ZZT Ultra will have NO PREDEFINED BEHAVIOR. I want the ZZT GUIs and ZZT objects to be represented entirely using text files, which will make ZZT Ultra a powerful compiler/interpreter with many versatile configuration options.

Using Google Chrome's capabilities to deliver an optimized, platform-independent, browser-based application seems attractive...for Google Chrome users. We'll see where this project ends up first.
