If the view displays a data file, you can
get information reported about the current selection in the node or subnode
browser as plain text. The information displays in a dialog box like the
example to the left.
The menu item Information.View Node Info shows the
information about the node selected in the node browser if the node browser is
the only tree control in view for a data file. If the subnode view is
also displayed, information about the node identified by the subnode browser
selection is displayed.
There is significantly more information about a particular node than what can be
reported on just one tree control line. While you can customize tree
control line information, such lines display best with minimal
information. Use Information.View Node Info to get a
full description about a node.
Reported information will vary depending on whether the selection originated
from the node or subnode browser. Generally, the information includes
node type, construct UID, construct name, child count, relative position
(1-based), hierarchy level (0-based), byte size, bit size, parent information,
and attributes that modify the construct type.
